FEATURES :

• This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend, enhanced by varying thicknesses, designed to offer the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight.
• The lightweight outer shell is made from advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic technology, available in three sizes : YS, YM and YL. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060 g (ECE) and 1170 g (DOT).
• Separate versions of the shells are available to meet DOT and ECE requirements ; the DOT-certified version of the helmet’s inner shell is constructed with composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner for maximum impact protection.
• The fit can be customized to the rider’s head with crown and cheek pads, available in different thicknesses as spare parts.
• The YM and YL sizes share the same EPS size, allowing riders to start with an YM helmet and later configure it to YL size as they grow by replacing the crown and cheek pads.
• The YS size has a smaller EPS size and can only be customized via the cheek pads. Alpinestars’ extensive research shows that children wearing a YS size are very young, typically 3 to 4 years old, and thus require a dedicated helmet fit.

• Alpinestars has introduced a new in-house standard for the SM3 Youth to test the helmet’s chin under more severe conditions than the homologation standard. To meet Alpinestars' new standards, the shell thickness and the helmet’s design structure have been optimized in the chin area for superior impact performance.
• Equipped with an emergency release system and removable cheek pads that allow for safe and easy removal while keeping the helmet on, while the 3D molded foam ensures optimal comfort for the rider.
• Stainless steel D-rings ensure a tight and secure fit.
• The SM3 helmet conforms to both DOT certification and ECE 2206 homologation for worldwide use.

MANUFACTURING :

• The multi-density inner liner ensures the helmet is equipped with the appropriate density in the right areas for better impact absorption, while also contributing to reducing overall weight.
• The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts.
• Alpinestars' patented low friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce rotational acceleration forces that may result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s own low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts.
• Maximized ventilation and high levels of thermal exchange thanks to 10 air inlets and seven exhaust ports.
• The visor has been designed to direct air into the ports for improved airflow.
• The patented visor release system ensures the visor detaches with the correct predetermined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck during an impact.
• The comfort liner is made from recycled materials to reduce the carbon footprint.
• Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for convenience and performance.
• The soft textile chin strap measures 25 mm for optimal safety and enhanced comfort for the rider.
