FEATURES :

• A raised area with padding has been specially designed to effectively reduce the forces transmitted to the collarbone. Additionally, a patented visor release system ensures the visor is released with a predetermined amount of force, regardless of the impact angle.

• The lower shell volume for sizes M, L, XL, and 2XL has been increased by approximately 3 % to make the helmet easier to put on and take off. This increased volume has also improved impact management, reducing transmitted force by 44 % compared to the standard speed threshold.

• To comply with the new ECE 22.06 standard, the SM5 delivers a 44 % better impact absorption performance than the current 33 % standard at regular speed, as well as a 32 % improvement for low-speed impacts and 31 % for high-speed impacts compared to existing requirements.

• A multi-density inner liner ensures optimal impact absorption distribution based on helmet zones.

• The redesigned chin bar features a new profile : the base is specifically sculpted to clear the collarbone. A new softer EPS inner liner extends beyond the helmet shell and is covered with a more flexible rubber compound, reducing the risk of collarbone injuries.

• Optimized ventilation and high thermal exchange performance thanks to multiple air inlets and exhaust ports.

• The SM5 helmet in the ECE version weighs 1,350 g in size M, while the ECE DOT version with a visor weighs 1,420 g.

• The visor is designed to channel air into the ventilation ports for improved internal airflow.

• The SM5 is available in two versions : ECE R 22.06 and ECE R 22.06/DOT.

PROTECTION :

• The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. To counteract rotational forces, Alpinestars has developed an exclusive technology incorporating a low-friction surface inside the EPS liner. In compliance with the ECE 22.06 standard, which now includes rotational oblique impact evaluation, the SM5 scores 70 % under this new regulation.

CONSTRUCTION :

• The lightweight outer shell is made from technologically advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic. It is available in three anatomical shell sizes, combined with three EPS inner liner sizes, along with an inner lining and cheek pads, offering six unique sizes for optimal fit and protection.
